Amperesand Raises $80M to Scale Medium Voltage Solid-State Transformers for AI Data Centers

19 Nov 2025

Amperesand, a Singaporean developer of next-generation power infrastructure for AI data centers and critical power applications, has secured $80 million in Series A funding to scale its Medium Voltage Solid-State Transformer (MV SST) platform.

The MV SST platform integrates hardware, software, and intelligent controls into a single compact unit, reducing installation labor by half and accelerating time to power tenfold. Its design also reduces the electrical footprint by more than 80%, enabling rapid deployment of high-power facilities while maintaining grid stability.

The company plans to deploy 30MW of commercial systems in 2026, targeting hyperscale AI data centers, defense applications, and megawatt-level charging solutions. Early commercial deployments include a pilot project at the Port of Singapore in collaboration with PSA International.

Brian Dow, CEO and Co-Founder of Amperesand, highlighted that the platform supports secure, on-and-off-grid operations and leverages regional supply chains for local manufacturing.

Founded through incubation by Xora Innovation and spun out of Nanyang Technological University, Amperesand has expanded operations in the U.S. and Singapore, with global staff expected to surpass 100 employees by the end of 2025.

The Series A round was co-led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and Temasek, with participation from Industry Ventures, Acclimate Ventures, SG Growth Capital, Xora Innovation, Material Impact, TDK Ventures, and Foothill Ventures.

The funding will support commercialization, engineering expansion, and delivery of advanced power solutions that address the growing energy demands of AI workloads and critical infrastructure worldwide.
